After a grueling couple of weeks with no sleep and lots of work, im finally done with the semester; one year down, two to go. I’d like to share my video I made for motion 1. It supposed to be a short narrative depicting a tragic newspaper article.

Next I want to share these two intresting web apps that Brooklyn based coderSoma developed. The first is an interactive map which reveals how far it takes to get from one area of NYC to another based on various methods.
The second is another interactive map which plots the number of single women and men inthe us based on age and location. very neat.

I came across another wacky blog, AwkwardFamilyPhotos.com. The title basiclly explains it all, amazing pictures of awkward family phots.

Moving from LA to NY has been great, I I have some regret now that I’ve seen the lineup for this summer’s HARD festival. Chromeo, The BLoody BEetroots, Crystal Castles, Tiga, A-Trak, Steve Aoki, Dan Oh, and Crookers!!! ugh, just amazing. go if you can
(Great poster design, although the typeface used for Crystal Castles, Sebastian, and Dan Oh is a free student gift from Veer called Perla Outline which im not so fond of)

One of our lectures in my Introduction to Design Studies class focused on sustainibilty and how it can improve our lives. The topic that caught my mind was the idea of green roofs. Basiclly in NY, we builing tall buildings that extend from the ground and in essence just elevate the ground area upwards. Green roofs are the idea of using roofs as extensions of the natural ground by laying them with grass, flowers and trees, thus also creating more public space, AND if enough are developed, cooling the city around us. My last intresting find will be of this letterpress shop i found in upstate NY who not only do beautiful custom letterpress stuff, buthey also make custum plates so you can print unlimited quanties yourself. They’re called Boxcar Press, very cool.
